Kindergarten Registration (TK/K)

Enrollment Procedures

 

We encourage you to register your child by June 1, 2023 to help us determine our facility needs for the 2023-24 school year. Many of our schools fill their classes quickly. It is imperative that parents enroll as soon as possible to ensure a spot for your child at your school.

1.

Complete Student Enrollment Forms:

To enter Kindergarten, a child must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2023. To enter Transitional Kindergarten, a child must be 5 years between September 2 - June 2, 2024.

Submit a completed Report of Medical Examination for School Entry (CHDP) if the student is new to the school system: download here...Specific dates of immunizations must be included. Return this form to the school. The form is also available from most physicians, or any school office

Provide verification of age:

Birth certificate or Passport

1. Required Forms - All new students - (these forms can be downloaded and filled out by hand or filled out as an online form and printed)

Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete all forms for enrollment as completely and accurately as possible. In order to expedite the registration process and ensure a smooth transition into VCPUSD, parents and/or guardians must provide the following information: 

Documents/Forms to be returned to student's school site:

Full Enrollment Packet

  • Enrollment Form

  • Household / Emergency / Disaster Priority Release Form

  • Current Student Health Information

  • Residency Verification Form

  • Signature Verification of Receipt of Documents/Release of Information

2a. Required 7th Grade Information

Type 2 Diabetes Information

Tdap Booster/Vaccine Required to start the school year for all 7th grade students entering advancing or transferring into 7th grade.

2b. Kindergarten or 1st Grade Only

The following Forms are READ ONLY - to be Downloaded and printed - fill out by hand:

Report of Medical Examination for School Entry (CHDP) (1st Grade Requirement but may submit for kindergarten as long as physical date is no more than 18 months prior to entering 1st grade)

Oral Health Assessment (Dental Checkup) California law now requires that your child have an oral health assessment by transitional-kindergarten, kindergarten or first grade, whichever is his or her first year of public school.

3. Birth/Age Verification

Birth Certificate/Passport is required upon enrollment to verify student's Birth Information.

4. Proof of Residency: One or Two (if applicable) different documents are needed showing family name and address

All school districts in California have been advised that the State Controller’s Office will rigorously enforce Title V (Administrative Code) and Education Code provisions for verification of residency of all enrolling students. The enrolling parent/legal guardian / foster parent / relative will be required to complete a Residency Verification form and present the following original documents, which will be photocopied and kept in the student’s file. Any subsequent change of address for the student will also require the following documents: 

One of the following documents: 

  • Grant Deed

  • Property tax statement

  • Escrow papers for primary residence

  • Declaration of temporary residency affidavits
    for homeless families / migrant families

  • An approved interdistrict transfer agreement

  • Offical letter from Tribal Chairperson

  • Home visitation by Superintendent or designee

One of the following with picture (no temporaries):

  • State ID

  • Drivers License

  • Rental/Lease agreement for primary residence (signed by both tenant and landlord)

  • Rent Receipt (for current month)

  • Voter Registration Card

Current bill or Deposit Receipt from local utility company

Any other legal document(s) which establishes residence address within the district boundaries.

5. Immunization Requirements for School Entry

Immunization Records: State Law requires a verification record of immunizations document be provided to the school prior to school admittance. Note: Children must be fully immunized even if they are not yet five years old in order to start in August, 2023.

7. Additional Documents To Bring (if applicable)

  • Copy of approved Interdistrict (must contact Superintendent's Office for approval) or  Intradistrict Transfer request. This only applies to those students who applied and were granted either an Interdistrict or Intradistrict permit.

  • Court / Legal documents

  • Copy of student’s IEP. (If student was in Special Education or Resource)

  • Student’s most recent report card, transcript, and schedule from previous school

  • Check out slip from previous school (textbooks returned to previous school)

  • If your child has been previously enrolled in a GATE (gifted and talented education) class, please provide letter stating that your child has been identified as a GATE student. 

Please call the school site registrar where your student will be attending for additional information and to schedule a registration appointment for new enrollments in the District.
